Welcome to my blog!
I’m a 58 year old father of two sons and live in Sydney, Australia. For the most part my life has been great compared to the great majority of people living on earth. Over the last 25+ years I have had mental health challenges – namely depression. There were times that the depression was so bad I couldn’t get out of bed, shower, dress, speak, eat or do anything meaningful or productive.
As those who have had struggles with their mental health in the past or even now, you just can’t “snap out of it.” There are many things one can do to help the situation. These include:
- Exercise
- Diet
- Prayer
- Meditation
- Medication
- lots of other items …
All the above help in their own way and are important. One area I’ve found that helps me in a profound way is to think of others and not just focus on myself and my own problems. This is the basis of this blog. For the next thousand days I want to suggest a 1,000 simple ways you and I can think about others and do something that makes a difference, however small. Of course these suggestions aren’t just for those who want to boost their mental health they are for everyone who wants to make the world a better place.
Being transparent, I am a devout Christian. I believe in God, Jesus & the Holy Spirit. Consequently, I live my life a certain way. I’m not preaching at you. I just want to be upfront. I’d like to say one thing before you go. Whether or not you believe in God … can you imagine how different the world will be if we all followed the so-called “Golden Rule?”
For those of you whom aren’t familiar with the Golden Rule – here it is:
Treat other people the way you would like to be treatedJesus 30 AD
How different would the world be if we all treated others this way?
There would be:
- No murder
- No rape
- No child abuse
- No assault
- No theft
- No lying
- No cheating
- Fair treatment
- and on and on
Well there it is. Let’s see where this adventure goes
